| The Supply Chain game is a simulation of a Ship Yard, where Ferries are produced. The game focuses on the planning, purchasing and transportation processes. The game has three game cycles, starting with a traditional set of processes. During the next game cycles, some of the important SCM tools are implemented in the simulation, to teach the effect and motivate the participants.
In the first round the scenario is based on a traditional setup where:
- Production is centrally planned
- Raw material is forecasted and planned centrally
- Shipping of finished goods takes place in large batches
- Raw material is shipped in large batches
All of the known effects of such a traditional setup become very obvious in this first game cycle, and by the end, the team will be highly motivated to start the improvments.
During the next rounds a number of efficient SCM tools are applied to the simulation, in order to let the participants experience all the benefits, such as improved delivery performance, much less WIP, much less stress and better financial performance.
